The Kustanai cooperative technical school of the regional consumer union was established in 1956 on the basis of the Resolution of the Board of the Central Union of Consumers No. 295 of May 25, 1956. Based on the Resolution of the Board of the Kazpotrebsoyuz No. 80 of August 25, 1995 and the Resolution of the Kustanai regional consumer union No. 14, paragraph 13 of September 14, 1995, from January 1, 1996 the technical school was renamed the Kustanai cooperative college of the regional consumer union. Based on the Resolution of the Board of Kazpotrebsoyuz No. 13 dated April 1, 1998 and the Resolution of the Board of the regional consumer union No. 6, paragraph 21 dated April 29 of the same year, the Kustanai cooperative college was renamed into the Kustanai accounting and trade college of the regional consumer union.
In 1999, based on the Resolution of the Board of Kazpotrebsoyuz No. 14 dated May 17, 1999, the college was renamed into the Kostanai Economic College of Kazpotrebsoyuz (certificate of state re-registration of a legal entity No. 217-1937 u-e dated June 27, 1999, issued by the Justice Department of the Kostanai region).

The college carries out educational activities in accordance with a state license.
