Small supermarket tour: practical application of knowledge.

On October 01, 2026, as part of the study of the professional module PM 1 «Providing products to a trading facility», Marketing students visited a Small supermarket with an educational tour.
The main purpose of the event was to consolidate theoretical knowledge and develop practical professional skills necessary for future specialists in the field of trade and marketing.
During the tour, the students were able to see how the processes of acceptance, placement, replenishment and control of the availability of products in the retail facility are organized in practice.
Special attention was paid to the topics studied in the PM 1 classes. Students observed the organization of the retail space, the placement of products on commercial equipment, the principles of forming product groups and maintaining the necessary assortment.
During the tour, the students examined how the employees of the trading facility interact when products are received, moved and placed in the sales area. The students were able to trace the relationship between the work of various specialists and see the importance of a clear division of responsibilities for the effective organization of the trading process.
The topic of product availability control on commercial equipment aroused practical interest. The students drew attention to the fullness of the shelves, the timely replenishment of goods, the availability of products to customers and the maintenance of order in the sales area.
The topic of the correct product placement and the availability of price tags was considered separately. The students analyzed how convenient it is for the buyer to navigate the assortment, whether the price tags are correctly correlated with the goods, and whether information about the cost of products is clearly visible.
Of particular importance was the understanding that the availability of goods in stock does not mean that they are available to the buyer. If products are not moved to the sales floor in a timely manner, incorrectly placed, or the necessary price information is missing, this can reduce the quality of service and affect the customer experience.
During the tour, the students showed interest, asked questions and actively participated in discussing professional situations. The observations allowed them to compare the studied theoretical material with the actual organization of the work of a modern shopping facility.
Such practice-oriented events help future specialists to better understand the specifics of their chosen profession, develop professional thinking and develop skills in analyzing trade processes.
The excursion to the Small supermarket became a useful continuation of the educational process for the students and showed how important the knowledge gained in the classroom is for effective work in the field of trade.
